KATHMANDU, Oct 25: The identity cards issued by the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons to conflict victims can be used to enter Singha Durbar.
During a meeting between Minister of Home Affairs, Bal Krishna Khand and the commission’s officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, it was agreed to allow the conflict victim ID card holders issued by the Commission to enter Singha Durbar, the government seat.
Helipad to be constructed inside Singha Durbar
The commission’s chairperson Yubaraj Subedi, members Bishwa Prakash Bhandari, Dr Gangadhar Adhikari, Sunil Ranjan Singh and Sarita Thapa and Secretary Shyam Kumar Bhattarai discussed the work done by the commission so far and how they coordinate with the home ministry.
Likewise, on behalf of the home ministry, Minister Khand, Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and the ministry’s Spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokharel were present at the meeting. Officials of the commission requested the ministry to make arrangements for the conflict victims to enter Singha Durbar by showing the same identity cards. Spokesperson Pokharel said that the home minister has instructed officials to make arrangements to allow those with conflict victim ID cards to enter Singha Durbar as per the request.
Discussions were held between the home minister, the officials of the Commission and ministry on providing relief to the families of the victims, the services to be provided to the persons who have been issued the identity cards by the Commission, investigation of missing persons, amendment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2014/15 A.D.
