CIB starts investigation into murder of former State Minister Rai

KATHMANDU, July 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) is currently probing the murder of former State Minister Ram Chandra Rai.


Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak reported at a House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Tuesday that a CIB team arrived in Sarlahi to investigate the case. He revealed that investigators have determined that a sharp weapon was used, causing injuries to the left side of Rai's head.

An axe was reportedly found in a bamboo bush located 50 meters northwest of the crime scene.


Minister Lekhak also mentioned that Ramdev Rai, an employee at the victim's residence, has been detained and is under police investigation.


The 80-year-old former minister, who lived in Malangawa Municipality-4, was killed on Sunday night with a sharp weapon at his farmhouse in Chandranagar Rural Municipality-1. His body was found in his bed.
