KATHMANDU, May 17: A case of assault and robbery has been filed against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and City Police Chief Raju Nath Pandey in the Kathmandu District Court.
Padam Prasad Pokharel, Editor-in-Chief of Pranmanch.com, filed a case of assault and robbery against Mayor Shah, City Police Chief Pandey and Metropolitan Police Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Lamichhane in the Kathmandu District Court on Thursday.
The petitioner has demanded three-years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000 according to section 191 (3) of the National Civil Code for beating him.
Similarly, under Section 286(3) related to robbery, a demand has been made to compensate for goods and damages amounting to Rs 344,117, according to Chandra Prasad Panthi, the information officer at the Kathmandu District Court.
Editor-in-Chief Pokharel filed the petition in the court claiming that he was assaulted and his camera and other communication devices were damaged during the arrest of sidewalk vendors by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on February 28 in Sundhara.
