KATHMANDU, June 26: A contempt of court case filed at the Supreme Court against the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah, could not be heard on Monday, either.
The case which was at number 7 in the cause list of the single bench presided over by Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana could not be heard today.
Hearing on contempt case against Mayor Shah takes place
On Friday, Advocate Varsha Kumari Jha filed a contempt of court case against Mayor Shah at the Supreme Court. The application filed at Justice Dhungana's bench was scheduled for hearing but was not heard on Sunday.
Advocate Jha filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, accusing Mayor Shah of contempt of court for expressing non-compliance with a court order.
Previously, the Patan High Court had issued an interim order directing the metropolis not to ban the screening of Hindi movies in cinema halls in Kathmandu. In response to the order, Mayor Shah had stated on social media that he would not comply with it.
