KATHMANDU, August 29: Hearing on contempt of court case registered against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) took place on Monday.
Spokesperson of the Supreme Court (SC), Bimal Poudel, told Republica that the petition filed by Advocate Deepakraj Joshi demanding action against Shah on contempt of court case was heard on Monday by a single bench of Justice Hari Krishna Karki.

Hinting at the SC's interim order not to demolish the structure of Norvic Hospital, Balen had earlier written on social media, "Now, the Supreme Court should be given the job of approving structure designs.”
Joshi filed a petition at the apex court arguing that Mayor Shah’s reaction was contempt of court case. Although the case has been heard the apex court is yet to issue any order.
