Canadian students donate stationery to Majhi kids

BANEPA, Sept 17: Students studying at Sir Winston Churchill High School of Calgary, Canada, have donated stationery items to the quake-affected students of underprivileged Majhi community in Sindhupalchowk district.

Fifty-nine students of the Majhi community studying at Pokhare Primary School in Sanga chowk of the district were provided with the stationery items including bags, notebooks, pencils and medical kits. All the children are from grade one to five.


Similarly, the school was also provided with necessary items such as white board, markers, globe, dictionary, maps and charts among other items. The donation campaign was launched by students Abhi Bastakoti, Asim Thapa, Apekhchya Shrestha, Kanit Regmi, Olga Stepa, Ranu Thanju, Smirti Pokhrel and Jesse M Dorey.

"The school family is grateful for their generous help even though they live very far away," said Bibek Raj Giri, a school teacher.

According to Ram Chandra Majhi, chairman of the School Management Committee, family of those children could not even afford pencils and notebooks. "We are very thankful for all those aid," he added.
