Book on CITES launched

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: The second edition of the award-winning book "CITES Implementation in Nepal and India: Law, Policy and Practice" written by Dr Ravi Sharma Aryal was inaugurated by Law Minister in the capital Friday. Aryals´ first edition was declared best book in the year 2004 by Nepal Bar Council.



The book published with support of WWF-Nepal contains in-depth analysis of the existing policies and the need for implementation of CITES convention on endangered species in Nepal and India.



Dr Uday Raj Sharma, former secretary and environment expert, Gagan Thapa, constituent assembly member and member of the Natural Resources and Means Committee of the parliament and WWF climate ambassador, and Dr Tirtha Bahadur Shrestha, botany expert spoke during the launch function.



The speakers said that the book would be “vital” in implementing cites law in the country.



The program was organized by Wildlife Action Group.
