Bisket and Sindur Jatras: Glimpses of two timeless festivals

Thirty-two khats are processed through the streets of Madhyapur Thimi on this festival that is observed on the second day of Baishakh, the first month according to Nepali calendar, welcoming the Nepali New Year. People celebrate the procession throwing orange-colored powder, playing Dhimey (traditional Newari musical instrument), and dancing and walking with oil lamp.
