Banke reports two COVID-19 fatalities as a woman tests positive after death

NEPALGUNJ, June 17: One more woman has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease after her death in Banke district.

NEPALGUNJ, June 17: One more woman has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease after her death in Banke district. 


A 46-year-old woman from Baijnath Rural Municipality-6 in the district passed away Monday evening while undergoing treatment at the Kohalpur-based Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital.

According to Focal Person at the District Health Office in Banke, Naresh Shrestha, her swab samples were tested positive for the virus on Tuesday evening. A team of Nepal Army personnel is making necessary arrangements for her funeral 


Hospital sources said the woman was admitted at the hospital on June 10 after she experienced some respiratory difficulties. 


With this, Banke district alone has reported two deaths due to COVID-19 infection. Earlier on May 17, a 25-year-old India-returnee from Narainapur Rural Municipality-5 had succumbed to this disease at a quarantine facility.  His infection was also confirmed only after death.
