SUDURPASCHIM, Aug 12: The Sudurpaschim provincial government has declared the Badimalika-Ramaroshan Forest Conservation Area, encompassing Badimalika in Bajura and Ramaroshan in Achham districts.
At a programme organised in Dhangadhi on Tuesday, Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah said the conservation area was declared in accordance with a decision of the provincial cabinet on August 4.
“The government has taken this decision with the aim of bringing the important forests and natural heritage sites of the two districts under a single conservation area,” he said.

The conservation area was declared in accordance with Clause 26 (1) of the Sudurpaschim Province Forest Act, 2077 BS.
Chief Minister Shah said the provincial government was committed to strengthening the conservation of forests, biodiversity and natural heritage in the Badimalika and Ramaroshan areas.
The conservation area covers wards 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Badimalika Municipality and wards 5, 6, 7 and 9 of Tribeni Municipality in Bajura, as well as wards 1 and 2 of Mallekh Rural Municipality and wards 4, 5 and 6 of Ramaroshan Rural Municipality in Achham.
The conservation area covers a total of 498.4 square kilometres.
Badimalika is known for its religious and natural tourism potential, while Ramaroshan is renowned for its natural beauty, lakes and rich biodiversity.
The provincial government expects the declaration to lay the foundation for promoting ecotourism while conserving forests and other natural resources.
It is also expected to strengthen coordination between the local governments of the two districts in forest conservation and tourism development.
