GORKHA, March 21: Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality started the 'Gaunpalika Adakxya Garibi Niwaran Program' last year to provide employment opportunities to the youth within the village. Under the program, the rural municipality had made working procedure to provide Rs 200,000 to the youths without any interest. The Rural Municipality had collected forms from those interested. Out of 60 applicants, only 14 were eligible for the subsidy.
GORKHA, Feb 23: The registration of cottage industries in Gorkha district has increased significantly after the local government decided to carry out strict inspection on businesses. The local government has also put forth a provision which makes registration compulsory to receive subsidy. From mid-July to mid-January of the current fiscal year, 575 hotels and restaurants were registered with the Cottage and Small Industry of Gorkha.
GORKHA, Feb 13: The national pride project, Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, has distributed a total of Rs 28.18 billion to acquire private land. According to the project officials, the amount for the acquisition of 45,777 ropani of land in Gorkha and Dhading districts belonging to 21,159 households has been released.
GORKHA, Jan 26: The Bhaluswara Road Project Office had begun procedures to take action against the contractors who were responsible for the construction of the Gorkha-Barpak road, as they were not able to complete the work within the extended deadline. Contracts of four packages were left in limbo by four construction companies and the office was planning to punish them but the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has extended the deadline for the contractors.
GORKHA, Sept 7: There are a total of 5,353 households identified as beneficiaries of the housing grant from among those included in the retrofitting in the district. Although 3,224 households among them have received Rs 50,000 as the first tranche of the housing grant, they have not claimed another Rs 50,000 as the second tranche of the grant.

GORKHA, Mar 1: The District Coordination Committee (DCC) of Gorkha has made an attempt to stop the rampant extraction of construction materials from its rivers. Following complaints from various quarters about the use of heavy equipment in the extraction, the DCC has fixed time for such activities.
