UHIYA (GORKHA), July 3: The entire village of Uhiya in Dharche Rural Municipality-3 of northern Gorkha does not have any means of telecommunication. Neither Ncell nor NTC cell phones pick up any signal in the settlement. Not just a settlement but an entire ward of the former Uhiya VDC is now inaccessible through telephone communication. The locals have to climb a mountain in search of a proper signal.
GORKHA, June 30: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has complained that the government has excluded all major projects recommended from the district while formulating budget of the current fiscal year.
GORKHA, June 9: Senior Neurosurgeon Dr Upendra Devkota, who has been undergoing treatment for Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) at Neuro Hospital, Bansbari, was airlifted by a helicopter to his birthplace Gorkha as per his wish on Saturday.

In fact, there are hardly any projects that could be listed as meeting completed within the deadline. Infrastructure projects including road, drinking water, building construction among others are plagued alike by the same problem.
GORKHA, April 29: Two years ago, land acquisition deal for the Budhigandaki Hydro Project was finalized and the land to be acquired for project was blocked from sales. However, the owners of the land have still not received the compensation for the land. Let alone distributing compensation, the government has not yet fixed rate of the land in some cases.
GORKHA, April 27: Following the devastating 2015 earthquake, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) took the responsibility of reconstructing 58 school buildings in quake epicenter Gorkha district. However, three years on, JICA has completed the construction of only one building so far.
GORKHA, April 25: Hundreds of houses were reduced to rubble in Barpak, the epicenter of the catastrophic earthquake of 2015. Three years on, only 509 out of the 1,400 houses destroyed have been reconstructed. Another 429 houses are under construction while the inhabitants of the others are still under makeshift tents.

GORKHA, Oct 9: Pramod Shrestha of Bhimsen Rural Municipality-8, Ghatbesi keeps travelling from Kathmandu to Gorkha during festivals like Dashain, Tihar and Makar Sankranti. Recently, he was travelling in a public bus when the helper forced him to get off on the way instead of taking him to his destination.
