Body of missing Sherpa found in Manaslu

GORKHA, Oct 3: The body of a man missing in an avalanche was found in Manaslu in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1 of North Gorkha on Monday afternoon.

Dawa Chhiring Sherpa of Taplejung, who had gone  there as a part of an expedition from Seven Summits Treks and Expeditions Pvt Ltd went missing on Sunday afternoon, while returning from the second camp.

SP Kedar Khanal of the District Police Office, Gorkha, said that the body was found on Monday afternoon even though a helicopter was sent for the search since Sunday. He said that the body was brought to Samagaon and sent to Kathmandu for a post-mortem.

The avalanche hit the area on Sunday afternoon around 3PM. According to the District Police Office, Gorkha, four people were injured while three others were found unharmed.

Similarly, last Tuesday too, a landslide occurred between the third and fourth camp of Manaslu Mountain. One person died and 12 people were injured in the avalanche.

This is the season to climb Manaslu Mountain. More than 1,000 Sherpas and 400 mountain climbers have reached Manaslu, which is also known as the Killer Mountain.
