KATHMANDU, July 29: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has warned that anyone involved in corruption, fraud and irregularity would be booked irrespective of their family connection and party affiliation.

Addressing a programme organized at the National Martyrs and Peace Garden of Jagdol here today, DPM Shrestha reiterated that anyone from any political party, family or position but involved in corruption would not be left scot free.

Good governance is the first priority and prerequisite of the present government, he said, adding that prosperity can not take a pace in absence of good governance. "Government's drive against bad governance, fraud and anomalies continues unabated," he underscored. Anyone found accused during the investigation will be brought to book, the DPM underlined.

Shrestha, however, said that cooperation from all sides is required to ensure the success of the government's drive against bad governance. "Entire people are now hopeful of change and progress," he said, while pledging to give continuity to this drive.

Shrestha said that the country could not move forward in the path of prosperity even after massive political change because of entrenched corruption and commission seeking. Bad governance is evil to society and country, DPM reminded and argued that it is the obstruction to fulfilling martyr's dream.

"Unless the corrupt and commission seekers are arraigned for legal remedy, the good governance is elusive," he stressed.

He urged the political leaders and cadres to fulfill the agenda of political change. Catering social justice to people is equally imperative, DPM viewed.

Politics should be a medium to ensure social and economic change in the country instead of grabbing power and earning property.

The political cadres, leaders and State agencies could remember the martyrs and correct themselves accordingly, he suggested. The democratic dividend should be ensured to peasants, workers, Dalit, and backward sectors and people.

On the occasion, DPM Shrestha garlanded the martyrs' statues. He also planted trees in the garden.
