Antique found in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 10: An ancient copper plaque belonging to medieval period granted by then king Jay Prakash Malla was discovered while carrying out renovation of Napukhu (ancient pond) in Bhaktapur Municipality-17.



The workers discovered the ancient plaque with inscription of Nepal Sambat Year 861 while digging the heap of earth in the western side of the pond.[break]



The then king of Kantipur city state, Jaya Prakash Malla´s name is inscribed with the sitting image of goddess Bhawani holding the Khadga (sword) in her hand in the 25 cm long and 14.5 cm wide plaque.



The copper plaque is inscribed in Nepal script and language.



The inscription states that the plaque was handed over to an unidentified person by king Jaya Prakash Malla while donating 40 ropanis land of a plot called ´Boribu´.
