Conmen selling fake antique buddhist books arrested

KATHMANDU, August 6: The Metropolitan Crime Division of Kathmandu has arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in trying to sell fake antique books related to Buddhism.

KATHMANDU, August 6: The Metropolitan Crime Division of Kathmandu has arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in trying to sell fake antique books related to Buddhism. Police have taken the two into custody for fraud related cases for trying to sell the fake antiques to people, while investigating into fraud cases related to antiques. 


The two culprits have been identified to be 20-year-old Asish Lama Tamang from Makalbari and 30-year-old Rajin Rai from Saraswatinagar, Chahabil. According to the Crime Division, the two con men had approached Hem Prakash Magar of Chaudandigadi Rural Municipality to sell the fake antiques and had managed to swindle him out of Rs 1.3 million.

The detainees have been taken to the Metropolitan Police Office in Teku and will be charged with legal action. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
