KATHMANDU, April 21: Ambassador of Nepal to Australia, Kailash Raj Pokharel, held a meeting with Phillip William Lowe, the governor of Reserve Bank of Australia, on Friday. They discussed, in a friendly environment, various issues of mutual interests including the possibilities on banking engagement of Nepal and Australia.

Ambassador Pokharel briefed the governor on the growing Nepali community in Australia and requested him to ease the mode of remittance from Australia to Nepal. Governor Lowe took the matter positively, according to Ambassador Pokharel.
He also requested the governor to facilitate establishing banking relations between the commercial banks of both countries. Michelle McPhee, assistant governor (Business Services), Michael Plumb, Head of Banking of Australian Reserve Bank and Honorary Consul General Deepak Kumar Khadka were also present at the meeting.
