DADELDHURA, Oct 9: Bishna Bhul, 16, of Garkhagaun, Mastamandu-1, was suddenly forced to assume the role of her family´s sole breadwinner after her father and mother died in a landslide on Tuesday. [break]

Bhul, a fifth grader, is wondering how she could support herself and her two younger siblings.

Bhul and her eight-year-old brother Purna survived the tragedy with the help of a drum, while her other sibling survived because he was sleeping in his maternal uncle´s house that night.

“We survived, but how can we live on without our providers,” Bhul said.

Bishna and Purna have returned to their village after receiving treatment at District Hospital, Dadeldhura. But these children of the late Dambar Bhul neither have a house now, nor any source of income.

Local UML leader Dhan Bahadur Shahi opined that the government must make arrangements for these children´s upbringing.

On Friday, a meeting at District Administration Office ended in an agreement to provide Rs 25,000 to the children and set up a bank account to collect financial help for them.
