Cabinet names 4 envoys, extends term of NOC chief

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The cabinet on Wednesday named Foreign Secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya as Nepal´s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.



Acharya will succeed Madhu Raman Acharya who is retiring after completing his four-year term.



Acharya´s appointment will be confirmed only after he goes through a vetting process of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.



The cabinet also named Pradhumna Bikram Shah, Arun Dhital and Madhuban Poudel as ambassadors to Brazil, South Africa and Kuwait, respectively. Shah and Dhital are senior joint secretaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while Poudel is a retired joint secretary at the ministry.



The cabinet also decided to extend the term of Digambar Jha as Nepal Oil Corporation´s executive director for two more years.
