KATHMANDU, Jan 8: A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday decided to extend the term of four Deputy Inspector Generals of the Armed Police Force, Nepal. The cabinet meeting extended their term for a year from Tuesday midnight.
Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the term of DIG Shambhu Subedi, Ganesh Thadamagar, Kul Bahadur Nembang and Kamal Giri was extended for a year.

The cabinet meeting took this decision as per the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to Section 65 (C) of the Armed Police Force, Nepal Regulations 2072 BS, the tenure of the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Nepal will be of four years.
Sub-rule (2) of Section 65 (C) of the Regulation states that on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Armed Police (IG), the government can extend the tenure of Additional Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) by one year after four years.
According to this arrangement, today's cabinet meeting has extended the tenure of all the four Deputy Inspector General by one year.
