SURKHET, Aug 27: Eight persons have died of diarrhea in the remote district of Humla in the last three days.

Constituent Assembly member of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Karnajit Budhathoki who returned after visiting Humla said these eight persons died between August 21-23 in Kalika Village Development Committee (VDC) that shares border with Bajura and Mugu districts.

The Mid Western Regional Health Directorate, however, claims there have only been five deaths in the VDC. But Budhathoki, who had reached Kalika on a chopper with a medical team from the Sixth Division of the People´s Liberation Army (PLA), blamed the disparity in number to the local health workers who themselves reduce number of deaths while reporting to higher authorities.
