Rainfall, snowfall across the country until Saturday: DHM

Rainfall is the forecast across the country until Saturday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The Department has also warned that snowfall and avalanches were more likely in the mountains and flash floods in small rivulets. According to the Department, the change in weather pattern is due to the western disturbance from the Mediterranean region.

PM Oli terms Dahal's comments a 'slip' that could have been averted

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli termed the comments of Nepal Communist Party's co-chairperson on Venezuela and 'American imperialism' a 'slip' that should not be converted into 'an issue'. Oli added that this wouldn't have been the case had he been in the country.

Sindhuli Jeep Accident: Five dead, eight injured

Five people were killed and eight others injured in a jeep accident at Chande Bhanjyang of Fikkal rural municipality-2, Sindhuli. The jeep, Ba 15 Cha 9422 was heading to Sindhuligadi from Mahadev Dada. According to eyewitnesses, the jeep, which had made a stop in a downhill road, lost control and plunged head-on 200 meters down. The jeep was transporting 12 passengers.

Dahal defends his statement on Venezuela after PM labels it a "slip"

Co-chairperson of Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reiterated his stance on Venezuela issue. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had furnished a clarification to the Embassy of America in line with his own statement. Dahal also expressed dissatisfaction in the joint statement by diplomatic missions on Nepal's peace process was unnecessary and irrelevant in the absence of Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs. 

Schools across the country shut down as Chand led party protests against the arrest of its treasurer

A bandh called by Netra Bikram Chand led CPN-Maoist Party’s ANNISU (Revolutionary) has shut down the majority of schools and colleges throughout the country.  While the government declared schools as the zone of peace on May 25, 2011, there often are strikes in schools and colleges. Schools were declared peaceful zones after 10 children lost their lives in Doti during a crossfire between the Maoist insurgents and security forces on October 13, 2003. 

Body recovered from wreckage of plane carrying footballer Sala: UK investigator

A body has been recovered from the wreckage of the plane that was carrying Argentina-born professional soccer player Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson. Sala, 28, had been en route from Nantes in western France on Jan. 21 to make his debut for Premier League team Cardiff City when the plane disappeared over the English Channel.
