KATHMANDU, Aug 29: As many as 490 Nepali migrant workers left stranded due to COVID-19 pandemic in various countries have returned home on Friday.
They were repatriated through three chartered flights operated by Nepal Airlines, Himalayan Airlines and Qatar Airways.
While Nepal Airlines brought home 262 Nepali migrant workers and 16 dead bodies, 156 migrant workers were brought home by the Himalayan Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur(Malaysia) on Friday. Likewise, 72 Nepali nationals were brought home on Friday by a Qatar Airways flight from Doha (Qatar).
The Tribhuvan International Airport is conducting six international flights on Saturday as well. Repatriation flights of Silk Air from Singapore, Jazeera Airlines from Kuwait, Himalayan Airlines from Kuala Lumpur and Kunming (China) and Nepal Airlines flights from Kuala Lumpur and Kuwait are scheduled to bring back Nepali migrants workers stranded for months due to lockdown on Saturday.
