47 Nepali women on visit visa deported from India; probe ordered

They were stopped and taken into custody for attempting to travel to Kuwait without a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The women were later sent back to Nepal (Rupandehi) via land route on Thursday night in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.

KATHMANDU, July 25: A total of 47 Nepali women attempting to travel to Kuwait on a visit visa were deported from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, and returned to Nepal.



They were stopped and taken into custody for attempting to travel to Kuwait without a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The women were later sent back to Nepal (Rupandehi) via land route on Thursday night in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.

According to the Chief District Officer, Rupandehi, Basudev Ghimire, a team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Prakash Malla from the embassy accompanied the women to the Sunauli border and handed them over to the Rupandehi administration. The women are currently being brought to Kathmandu by the police.


Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has instructed the police to carry out a thorough investigation into the case. The ministry said the minister directed the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau to launch a detailed probe and bring those involved to justice. The Home Minister also emphasized a deeper investigation into illegal foreign employment practices.
