Visit Visa scandal: Parliamentary probe demanded against Home Minister

KATHMANDU, May 26: Advocate Yubaraj Paudel Safal has drawn the attention of Speaker Devraj Ghimire, demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee against Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, accusing him of serious involvement in the visit visa and human trafficking scandal.


In the petition submitted to the Speaker on Monday, Safal alleged that the Home Minister, the Home Secretary, the Chief of Immigration at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the Minister's Secretariat, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) are all implicated in the case.

Advocate Yuvraj Paudel stated that human traffickers have trapped most Nepalis who traveled abroad on visit visas over the past five years, forcing them to suffer greatly. He demanded that authorities take strict action against the guilty and clear the names of the innocent. Paudel urged the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the issue and enforce the law under the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act.
