Former MPs stage sit-in

KATHMANDU, May 8: The former members of parliament (MPs) began a three-week long sit-in in front of the Constituent Assembly (CA) building from Sunday to exert pressure for promulgating the constitution in slated timeframe.



Coordinator of the sit-in preparation committee Bir Bahadur Singh said the program will continue till May 28, saying the CA failed make any progress in constitution writing and concluding the peace process.[break]



The former MPs said they chose to stage sit-in to pile pressure on CA members as there was frustration among the people due to lack of consensus, coordination and unity among the political parties.



Over 50 former MPs are participating in the sit-in program.
