KATHMANDU, April 13: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal on Wednesday asked Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to wait a few days for the Home Ministry portfolio.

Khanal made the request during a meeting at his official residence after Dahal asked for the ministry as per the seven-point agreement signed by them on February 3.

According to the PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa, the leaders discussed on giving full shape to the twenty-member cabinet.[break]

When asked whether the row over Home Ministry has been resolved or not, Thapa replied: “The Prime Minister asked Dahal to wait for a few days.”

He further added that the cabinet would get full shape soon.

Maoist Vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha termed the meeting inconclusive. “The discussion between the PM and Dahal was inconclusive for now, but they will meet again in the evening," he said emerging from the meeting.

According to the seven-point agreement, ministries related to security are to be shared between CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist). UML has already appointed Bishnu Poudel as Defense Minister and the Maoist has staked their claim for the Home Ministry.

Senior CPN-UML leader and the former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Senior leader KP Oli have maintained that the Maoist should not be allowed to lead the security related ministries until their combatants are managed.
