The 10-member committee is headed by Kedar Nath Acharya with Shree Hari Aryal, Sharad Kumar Bhattarai, Ram Prasad Dahal, Ananta Ram Bhattarai, Shiva Sharan Rajbhandari, Swami Ramananda Giri, Chetonath Gautam and Basanta Kumar Chaudhary as members. [break]
The secretary of the Ministry of Culture will be member-secretary of the committee entrusted with the responsibility to make practical and concrete suggestions to help manage the income in transparent manner.
The ministry´s decision comes in the wake of the Supreme Court directing the government to make proper arrangement to ensure transparency in the income of the Pashupatinath temple.
Among other things, the committee has been entrusted with the responsibility to make recommendations on ensuring proper management of worship at the temple, income received from Guthis (religious trusts) belonging to the temple and determine salary as well as allowances of the head priest and other priests serving at the temple.
The committee has also been asked to make suggestions for developing necessary infrastructure and management of the temple to highlight its historical importance. The committee will also make recommendations for bringing necessary amendment to the rules governing the management of the temple.
