KATHMANDU, April 25: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Deepak Raj Joshi, has extended an invitation to people from around the world to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025, scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18.
Sagarmatha Sambaad is a multi-stakeholder dialogue forum dedicated to deliberating on major issues of global, regional, and national importance. Organized by the Government of Nepal, it brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds who have the stake, influence, and capacity to shape and drive discourse for positive change.
The theme for this edition is "Climate Change, Mountains, and the Future of Humanity."
CEO Joshi extended the invitation while attending the annual conference of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) held in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 21 to 23, according to the NTB.

During the conference, a partnership agreement was also signed between the NTB and PATA. The agreement includes cooperation in drafting the Tourism White Paper, forming a joint forum, and launching programs aimed at strengthening the NTB.
Likewise, CEO Joshi made a special appeal to the global tourism community, urging international stakeholders and tourism entrepreneurs to participate in the Himalayan Travel Mart, which will be held in Kathmandu from June 3 to 5, 2025.
The mart aims to promote Nepal’s diverse tourism heritage and expand its global cooperation network.
Speaking on behalf of Nepal on the topic "Building a Sustainable Future" at the PATA Annual Conference—held under the theme "Knowledge for Eternity, Sustainability for the Future"—CEO Joshi highlighted Nepal’s eco-tourism model, community-based tourism practices, and key sustainable initiatives.
He also presented a vision for tourism development based on Nepal’s natural, cultural, and social diversity.
According to Joshi, an agreement was reached during a meeting between the NTB delegation and Dr. Randy Durband, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, to expand cooperation in destination certification, membership, research, and capacity building.
During the conference, the NTB delegation also held various discussions and meetings with tourism experts, statisticians, Artificial Intelligence (AI) specialists, and environmentalists.
The NTB stated that discussions at the conference also focused on enhancing strategies to restore Nepal’s tourism sector sustainably and position the country as a safe global tourism destination.
