Airbus makes sales bid to NAC

KATHMANDU: Europe-based Airbus officials, who are in Nepal to negotiate sale of a jetliner to national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), held talks with Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Hishila Yami and other officials Thursday.



Sheel Shukla, Airbus senior sales director and Marie Ange Planco, marketing manager, made a detail presentation on the small, wide-body A380Airbus before Yami, NAC chairman B.K Man Singh, general manager Sugat Ratna Kansakar and other officials.



The government has already announced it will underwrite the purchage of two jetliners for the troubled NAC, which has two Boeings at present.



“The Airbus officials made a presentation on the aircraft´s technical details. We will take a decision on the aircraft company, model and seat capacity,”Kansakar said.



The Airbus team is returning to Europe on Friday.



A source at the ministry said a delegation from the American Boeing company is arriving in Nepal the second week of January to negotiate aircraft sale to NAC.
