KATHMANDU, Oct. 27: Regular traffic on the mid-hilly Pushpalal Highway that was blocked due to a landslide some two weeks ago is yet to be reopened.

The highway was disrupted following a landslide at the Akkare Cliff near Haiwar of Sindhuli district along the Khurkot-Ghurmi section.[break]

People mainly of Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Uadaypur and Solukhumbu districts have been affected by the highway disruption during the Dashain festival.

Passengers are forced to pass over the blocked segment of the road through a risky channel. The highway disruption has made their travel lengthy and costlier, too as they have to change vehicles on the midway.

Besides, they have complained that public vehicles are collecting arbitrary fare, taking the advantage of the highway disruption.

Public vehicles operators have been accused of charging fare more by three folds than the regular charge. Besides, a bus is seen carrying passengers up to 150 passengers.

The highway blockage from landslides has caused negative impact on local environment as well. The roads have become dusty and the people here are awaiting for the highway resumption with the removal of landslides as soon as possible.
