KATHMANDU, Jan 30: India has gifted the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal as part of its support for the country’s preparations for upcoming elections.
The assistance was handed over in the presence of Minister for Finance Rameshore Prasad Khanal at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu on Wednesday. India’s Charge d’Affaires, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, transferred more than 250 vehicles to the Government of Nepal.

According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the vehicles are part of the election-related support requested by the Government of Nepal to facilitate logistical preparations for the polls.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khanal highlighted the longstanding cooperation and friendly relations between Nepal and India. He expressed gratitude to the Government and people of India for the assistance and underscored its importance in ensuring smooth election preparations.
The first tranche of India’s election-related assistance was handed over on January 20, 2026, and additional consignments are expected to be delivered in batches in the coming weeks.
The embassy noted that India’s continued support reflects the multi-faceted and multi-sectoral development partnership between the two countries and symbolizes the deep-rooted trust and friendship between the peoples of Nepal and India.
