With this the total number of tourists visiting Nepal in first seven month of 2012 has reached 332,472, which is an increase of 18.5 percent compared to similar period of 2011. [break]
NTB said the figures were pushed up by strong showings from South Asian and South East Asian markets which increased by 18.3 percent and 18.9 percent. It said 15,000 Indian tourists visited Nepal in July, an increase of 27.1 percent. Visitors from China also increased by 27.2 percent.
Likewise, arrivals from Pakistan increased by 27.1 percent. However, tourists from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka saw a decline of 34.2 and 44.6 percent respectively. Similarly, the figures showed the arrivals from Japan, Malaysia and South Korea increased by 19 percent, 11 percent and 11.6 percent respectively.
The growth from European market was limited to 5 percent with 7,811 tourists entering the country through Tribhuvan International Airport. Arrivals from Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Spain had increased but the number of tourists from the UK, Italy and Belgium were down, the NTB said.
