Tharu and hill people should live together: leader Deuba

DHANGADHI, Dec 25: Nepali Congress senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that there was no alternative for Tharu and hill people to live together.

At a news conference organized by the Nepal Press Union, Kailali chapter today, leader Deuba clarified that the people migrated from hilly districts and Tharu people from Dang could not return back to their previous places therefore they should live together.


He added that the government led by him had abolished evil practice of bonded labour in western Tarai and so he was committed to ensuring the rights to the Tharu community.

Former PM Deuba urged protesting parties for dialogue as their demands could be addressed through constitution amendment process as the bill for the same was tabled in the parliament.

To a query of journalists regarding his candidacy for the party President in upcoming general convention of the party, leader Deuba instead in lighter vein asked the journalists to guess the answer. RSS
