Tax waives for Binod Das' car

KATHMANDU, June 5: The government on Friday decided to waive Value Added Tax (VAT) for the car that Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced to award former national cricketer Binod Das. A cabinet meeting held on Friday took the decision to this effect.

The CAN had announced to award former national cricket team skipper Binod Das, who spent more than 15 years playing cricket for Nepal, during his retirement from all formats of cricket in April this year.

Das retired from all forms of cricket after playing the Phillip Hughes Memorial Tribute Match in April.Born on April 26, 1983 in Kaliaya, Das spent most of his time playing the ´gentlemen´s game´ and won his first international cap during the ACC U-19 Trophy held in Malaysia in 1997 and had played his last match against United States in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 held in Malaysia in 2012.

Das made his debut for the national team in 2000 against UAE in the ACC Trophy at Sharjha. He played 68 matches of 50-overs and bowled 434 overs conceding 1549 runs at the economy rate of 3.56. He took five wickets against Myanmar giving away only eight runs. Das claimed 76 wickets at the average of 20.38 in the 50-overs match.
