According to the Chief District Officer, Rishiram Dhakal, SJTMM submitted five country-made guns, two rounds of bullets and 12 kilos of gun power to the DAO.
“We have started handing over weapons from Sarlahi. In the next phase, we will submit the weapons to the District Administration Office in Kapilvastu,” Gupta informed.
Informing the media persons that they would handover around 40-50 weapons to the government despite their agreement to submit only 20 weapons, Gupta emphasized that the politics of violence in Tarai region should end immediately.
Stating the need of peaceful protests to pressure the government for the rights of the people in the region, Gupta said that they submitted their weapons after the government assured them of addressing their main demand of federalism in the new constitution.
Meanwhile, CDO Dhakal said that the weapons handed over to the DAO are defunct. He also informed that the two submitted bullets were used ones.
