KATHMANDU, June 12: Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has provided cash assistance of Rs 100,000 and tarpaulin sheets to earthquake victims of Langtang village in Rasuwa district who are presently living in temporary shelter at Yala Monastery.
According to a press statement issued on Friday, TAAN President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala handed over the check to Temba Sherpa of Langtang Young Club which has been looking after the management of the temporary shelter.

Meanwhile, locals of Langtang village have requested TAAN to open blocked trails at the earliest so that tourists can visit the Langtang Region from the next tourism season.
"Tourists think the entire Langtang region is destroyed which is not true. Only the Langtang village has been completely destroyed. We want tourists to come to Langtang; we want to spread the message that Langtang is not dead and that it will rebound," the statement quoted the locals as saying.
Responding to Langtang locals, TAAN President Dhamala said that his association will lobby with the concerned government agencies for allocation of funds to open blocked trails.
"Our first priority will be on opening blocked trail. Once the track is opened, we will send a team to assess the trails and rebuild them as per the suggestions of technicians," Dhamala said, according to the statement.
Dhamala also said TAAN would open blocked foot trails and mule trails that link different quake-hit villages in Rasuwa to ferry humanitarian assistance in coordination with UN World Food Program (WFP).
