Sports journalist Singh passes away

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Senior sports journalist Ishwar Man Singh passed away on Monday morning. Singh, 75, breathed his last at the Blue Cross Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for paralysis.



Singh was the founder president of South Asian Sports Journalists Association Nepal and worked in various media as sports journalists. [break]



He also served at the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) for 30 years and later retired as its managing editor. Singh was the editor of sports magazines ´Khelkud Manch´ and ´Nepal Sports and Leisure´.



He is survived by his wife, two sons and 8 daughters. His final rites were performed at Kankeshwari on Monday.



National Sports Council, Nepal Democratic Sports Journalist Association and Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) expressed condolences on his demise.



“It is a great loss for Nepali sports journalism,” reads the press statement issued by NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi. “Singh will be remembered for long for his contribution to sports journalism.”



Sports journalists and sportsperson paid their last tribute to Singh at National Sports Council on Monday.
