The matches will be held in league-cum-knockout format and the winner of each match will get Rs 1,500. Each participant will also get Rs 1,500. The tournament, which begins on September 30, also features U-15 boys´ and girls´ singles, veterans (above 45 years) and super veterans (above 55 years) matches. The tournament will be held at the covered hall of the Dasharath Stadium.
Lama bags bronze
KATHMANDU: Sujan Lama bagged a bronze for Nepal in the 46th Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Guangzhou, China. According to Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association General Secretary Dinesh Rajbhandari, Lama bagged the bronze in men´s 55 kg section while other two Nepalis - Sachit Pradhan (men´s 60 kg) and Shyam Shrestha (men´s 65 kg) - finished fifth and fourth in their respective weight categories.
Daffodil, TIA lift titles
KATHMANDU: Daffodil clinched the title of the Third Bagmati Inter School Basketball Tournament in the boys´ section on Sunday while TIA emerged victorious in the girls´ section. In the boys´ final, Daffodil defeated NIMS 29-24 at the court of Bagmati Boarding School, Sukedhara. Minraj Thapa topscored 14 points for the winning team. In the girls´ final, Riya Thapa scored 22 points as TIA edged out Daffodil 30-27 to lift the title. Sameer Tamang of NIMA and Shanti Shrestha of Bagmati were the overall top scorers in the boys´ and girls´ section respectively.
Prime wins gold
KATHMANDU: Prime College won gold in the women´s team event of the Sixth Purnaman Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament on Sunday. Prime thrashed Oxbridge 3-0 in the final held at the Lainchaur Table Tennis Training Centre. Liverpool and Bern Hardt finished joint third.
Bhagawati Majhi clinches gold
KATHMANDU: Bhagawati Majhi clinched gold in the women´s Samurai demonstration during the First International Ikendo Championship held in Kathmandu on Sunday. Rina Magar and Sitara Thapa Magar finished second and third in the event which also featured players from Japan, Germany and Great Britain. In the kendo section, Suchma Lama and Sanjay Tamang won the title in the women´s and men´s category respectively.
