A shout-out to graceful souls

Basantapur Durbar Square is an ideal hangout destination in Kathmandu. Seeing the regular influx of people in the ancient square, numerous street vendors capitalize on the opportunity selling street food. Raxaul’s native, 22-year-old Pawan Kumar Sahani, is one of such vendors. He operates his fruit shop under the street lamp in front of the Gaddhi Baithak. He says, he makes up to 1200 a day. “I only come to Kathmandu when I am not working in my farms in India. Selling fruits is a seasonal business. I sell fruits during monsoon and pani puri in autumn,” he said. Sahani is the eldest among his siblings. He is married and is content with what he has in life. He says, “My life is all about making my family happy.”
