After relief material distribution with sanitation awareness campaign and then temporary toilet and shelter construction in various districts of earthquake affected areas. Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN) is now focusing on earth quake traumatized government school children support and teachers campaign regarding earthquake preparedness, safety and risk reduction training collaborating with different organizations such as AIESEC Nepal chapter, Ma Swodeshi, Nepal Red-Cross, Helping Hand etc. From next Monday (8 Jun 2015) we are launching "Project Junkiri" in Prabhat Secondary School, Naghal, KTM and Shanti Sikshya Higher Secondary School, Thahity, KTM.
During light search and rescue operation, i found many youngsters and middle age people were found playing cards and other games. Small children are helping us to clean toilets & ground, spraying phenol solutions etc but the general peoples were not bother to do anything. We heard a comment when we paint and cleaned the overhead bridges of Kathmandu cities from our own money, one passerby ask how much dollar u people earn from doing this. Our parents were worrying and reluctant to send us outside the Kathmandu valley for relief operation. We lack the supporting teams, resources etc. When we went Bungamati, one of the local people said us that we are not a beggar, if u people really want to help then go to the extreme end of Lalitpur district.
My inspiration for social work is Mr. Pratik Shrestha vai of "Ma Swodeshi" stayed in my locality, Chherapati-17. He is very decent guy and can't stop helping people when they need. He initiated to collect waste materials, bring water, waste collecting vehicles, relief material in different camps of Kathmandu. He coordinated different institutions such as Red Cross Nepal, Chhetrapati Free clinic, Ward no. 17 office of government etc. to provide the necessary support to the earthquake victims. He is also engage in book collection throughout the year and provides it to rural area to set up library. He has golden heart and magnanimous personality so even he is junior to me; he is always my source of inspiration because of his selfless help to others.
Falling in Love
We saw there is huge disparity in relief material distribution and compensation from government side. Government should not focus on gaining name by announcing cheap and unrealistic polices. Rather they focused on monitoring & evaluation of all donation and it proper utilization to help the needy one. Overall we found there is absence of government. All the affected area's people have single comment "We are not victimized by the earthquake but the Nepal Government". Hope better things come and implemented soon. We will bounce back again. Nepal is safe, Nepal is great & Nepal and Nepalese people are wonderful. Jai Nepal.
