Shrestha to fly New York on Saturday

KATHMANDU, Sept. 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha is leaving for the United Nations on Friday to attend the 67th United Nations General Assembly by leading a 8-member Nepali delegation.



Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 28, spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arjun Bahadur Thapa told RSS.



In his address to the UN General Assembly, Shrestha would deliver statement on Nepal´s peace process, political status, constitution-writing process, effects of climate change, world peace and UN´s reforms, among others.



During his stay in New York, the Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with his two dozen counterparts including that of neighbouring countries.



Likewise, Shrestha would also attend the separate welcome programmes to be organized by UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki moon and U.S President Barak Obama.



The Deputy Prime Minister would be accompanied by Secretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Durga Prasad Bhattarai, Secretary at the Prime Minister´s Office Jaya Mukunda Khanal and other officials including Nepal Television´s cameraperson Rameshwor Shukla.
