PSC introduces OMR system

KATHMANDU, JUN 15 : The Public Service Commission (PSC) has introduced the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) system from this fiscal year for examining objective question-answer sheets to improve the selection process for government officials. [break]



At a function organized on the 63rd anniversary of the PSC, Chairperson of PSC Dr Kayodevi Yami said the task of reforming the exam system and curriculum would be continued to ensure prompt and effective performance by the PSC.



She said the PSC was committed to ensuring a free, fair and competitive selection process for candidates.



Secretary at the PSC Nathur Prasad Chaudhary said the integrated examination system for the selection of non-gazetted (non-technical) staff would be implemented in the selection process for gazetted third class officers as well from next fiscal year.



The chief secretary of the Nepal Government and chiefs of constitutional bodies did not show up at the programme although they were invited, Chief Psychologist at PSC Ashok Kumar Jha said.



During the function, section officer Sudip Dhungana, typist Ram Kumari Magar and office assistant Dhan Krishna Maharjan were awarded for best performance. The three received Rs 25,000 each.



Currently, the total number of officials at the PSC stands at 371. RSS
