KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has filed a case against three individuals including former government officials, over alleged fraud in the decision to lease two ropanis of Nepal Trust land at Durbar Marg. On Wednesday, the Office of the Government Attorney filed the case at the Kathmandu District Court.
After nearly a month-long investigation, the CIB recommended pursuing charges of fraud and criminal gain against former Nepal Trust Secretary Arjun Bahadur Karki, Under-Secretary Lakh Bahadur Karki, and Director of Thamserku Developers, Sonam Sherpa. Acting on this recommendation, the case was officially filed on Wednesday.

Concerns have been raised over irregularities in Nepal Trust’s decision, seven years ago, to lease the Durbar Marg property to Thamserku Developers. Despite ample evidence of misconduct and corruption, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had, at the time, decided to shelve the file through a collusive settlement.
