The two were detained after a protest was held at Baluwatar on Tuesday evening, accusing the government of signing what the protesters described as a “false assurance-based agreement” in the name of addressing the demands of the Gen Z movement. During the protest, demonstrators pasted copies of the agreement along with lollipops on the Baluwatar gate.
Police had arrested the two youths during the protest and taken them to the Maligaun Police Circle.
Gen Z campaign leader Harish Bhatt said the detainees were released late at night. “Our friends who were arrested have been released late last night. Discussions are now underway on future programmes,” he said.
Following the arrests, a team led by Miraj Dhungana had reached the Maligaun Police Circle demanding their release.
