The court proceedings extended until late at night, with the order being passed around 11:30 pm. Following the delay, Prasai’s supporters staged a protest outside the court premises, chanting slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Police at the scene used loudspeakers to urge demonstrators to remain calm.
The hearing on whether to keep the defendants in custody had been ongoing since May 2, concluding on Thursday. The Office of the Government Attorney had filed cases against 61 individuals on May 24. Among them, 39 remain in custody, while 11 charged only with public disorder have already been released on bail.
