KATHMANDU, June 13: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been sent to Dillibazar Jail, even though the court had directed authorities to ensure arrangements for his cancer treatment.
Prasai, who was arrested in connection with the violence during a pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu's Tinkune on March 28, was among seven individuals remanded to custody following a court order issued by Kathmandu District Court Judge Dhrubaraj Karki. While the court ordered that Prasai be kept in custody, it also instructed that proper medical care for his cancer treatment be arranged.

Along with Prasai, Saroj Gautam, Gokarna Shahi, Dandapani Regmi, Sushil Baral, Keshav Basnet, and Jit Bahadur Shrestha have also been sent to Dillibazar Jail. All seven are facing prosecution under charges related to attempted murder and serious public offenses stemming from the March protest.
Despite the court's instruction to provide Prasai with access to cancer treatment, he has been placed in the regular prison facility, raising concerns about his health condition.
