PM Oli's visit will begin from Monday morning with the Chinese military paying him a Guard of Honor in the presence of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang.Oli and Chinese premier Li will then hold a meeting to review the six decade long Nepal-china relation during which Oli is likely to push for expanding economic ties with China in the wake of the Indian blockade against in Nepal.
The two are expected to draw draft agreements based on eight-point framework agreement reached earlier between Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa and the Chinese government during his visit to China at the height of the Indian blockade.
During his meeting with Li, Oli will give top priority to increasing cooperation on trade and other development projects between the two neighboring countries.
They are likely to hold talks on Nepal-China trade and transit treaty, fuel import, expansion of free trade, Nepal-China electricity connectivity, infrastructures connecting Nepal-China, joint-investment in Nepal's hydro projects and various other issues, among others.
Similarly, the Chinese side is likely to raise the border security issues related to Tibet during the meeting.
The two countries are expected to sign some agreements and issue a joint-statement following the meeting.
Officials with inside knowledge of PM Oli's visit, said the Nepalese prime minister is likely to sign around half a dozen agreements with China.
After meeting Li, Oli will call on Chinese President Xi Jinping. Xi and Oli will hold talks in the possibility of establishing tripartite economic corridor between Nepal, India and China; connecting the two countries through railway and electricity. They will also discuss on 'One Belt One Road.'
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi for almost an hour.
Chinese President Xi has expressed his desire to visit Nepal around his India visit to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in September-October. Chinese government officials have said that preparations were being made in that regard.
During his meeting with Xi, Prime Minister Oli will extend him an official invitation for a state visit to Nepal.
Similarly, Prime Minister Oli is also scheduled to hold an interaction with Chinese students at the Chinese University and hold talks with various other Chinese leaders and officials.
