GORKHA, 5 Jan : The winter has already killed few and sickened thousands of earthquake victims in several districts. With the winter nearing its climax, some NGOs are now growingly showing their presence in the quake hit regions. Supply of sweaters, jackets and blankets through helicopters is almost an everyday affair here these days. Noticeably, use of helicopters for goods supply turns out to be very expensive. As per distance, it costs from Rs 80,000 to Rs 150,000 to carry things from Gorkha headquarters to quake hit destinations. And even though some areas are linked with roads, and mulls, NGOs are transporting clothes and other relief materials through helicopters there also.

The District Natural Disaster Relief Committee denies having record of the expenses these NGOs are spending in transportation and the aid they are distributing. Even the committee has lately expedited distribution of relief materials across the quake areas.
