KATHMANDU, April 17: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday surged 26.49 points to close at 2,722.73 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,696.23 points and gradually escalated to the day’s high at 2,740.14 points when trading time was left for one hour and 15 minutes. The market declined by around 18 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Out of the 13 groups, only trading shed 6.95 points. Non-life insurance and life-insurance had gains of 120.40 points and 112.07 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies added 6.39 points. Daily turnover amount soared to Rs 10.79 billion from Rs 7.26 billion on Wednesday.
Among the individual companies, 187 were gainers while 59 were registered as losers. Himalayan Power Partner had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 1.582 billion.
Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited escalated by the highest of 10 percent. NIC Asia Debenture 2085/86 lost 4.79 percent of its market value, the largest of all.
