KATHMANDU Jan 4: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday held a joint meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs with representatives of three different Muslim community groups, including a member of the National Assembly.
During the meeting, officials from the National Muslim Coordination Committee (NMCC) and representatives of the Federal Democratic Alliance (FDA) submitted memorandum outlining concerns facing the community. Receiving two separate memoranda, Minister Aryal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking immediate action against anyone found undermining religious harmony or disrupting communal peace.

Stressing that the government has taken the issues raised by the Muslim community seriously, Aryal said maintaining religious faith and tolerance at the provincial and district levels is an urgent priority. He urged all religions and sects to exercise restraint and sensitivity in their activities to preserve social harmony.
Home Minister Aryal assured that maintaining peace and security remains the core responsibility of the home administration. He added that proactive coordination among provincial governments, district administration offices, police, and local communities would help prevent communal tensions before they escalate.
Aryal also assured community representatives that the government would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone engaging in unlawful activities under the pretext of power, influence, or group affiliation.
Representatives including Mohammad Yunus Ahmar (Hasmi), Maulana Mazrul Hasan, Seema Khan, Maulana Khusid Alam, Taj Mohammad Miya, National Assembly member Khalid Siddiqui, Kalpana Miya, Nepal Haj Committee Chair Mokhtar Ahmed, and leaders from Jamiat Ulama Nepal and the Federal Democratic Alliance, drew the minister’s attention to rising antisocial activities that could inflame religious intolerance. They also warned of potential threats to peace and order ahead of the March 5 House of Representatives election.
